In light of the upcoming UN Security Council meeting to discuss the Sahara issue, Polisario Front\u2019s New York representative addressed a letter to the council that urged the UN to conduct direct negotiations with Morocco.<\/p>\n
Moroccan political analyst reacted by saying that this is a repetitive behavior stemming from a \u201cbankrupt mentality\u201d that precedes the council meeting.<\/p>\n

Abderrahim Manar Slimi, President of the Atlantic Center for Strategic Studies and Security Analysis, stated that the Separatist front is used to do such things whenever Security Council meetings approach.<\/p>\n
The meeting in question falls in line with Staffan Di Mistura, Special Envoy for the Sahara\u2019s continuous push for a resolution, as he plans to discuss the latest developments in this regard at April 19\u2019s meeting.<\/p>\n
Di Mistura recently met with diplomats in New York, reiterating that he\u2019s open to recommendations despite the challenge of restarting direct talks between Algeria and Morocco, as Rabat insists that Algeria must be present as a major player in the conflict and not only as an observer.<\/p>\n
Slimi said that \u201cFor starters, the message of Sidi Mohamed Ammar, who is residing in the Algerian Embassy in New York and impersonating a status that does not belong to him, which is claiming to represent the Polisario at the United Nations, must be placed in a context that precedes De Mistura\u2019s next briefing before the Security Council on April 19.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Polisario is used to this kind of maneuvers, he explained, stating that his deep reading of Ammar\u2019s letter, revealed how Algeria has become the first addressee in the conflict, \u201cso we find that the letter deliberately resorts to all kinds of insults, which appear to be a copy written by Amar Blani in the Algerian Foreign Ministry.\u201d<\/p>\n
Slimi thinks the letter is an attempt to downplay the threat that the Sahraoui peace movements pose to the seperatist front.<\/p>\n
Individuals belonging to these two groups have links in Polisario camps, which can be explained by disobedience and transitioning to legitimate self-defense, \u201cwhich is now being practiced by the residents of the camps against the militias of Ghali and Bouhali,\u201d explained the political analyst.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe message, in its language and content, reveals the dilemma of the Polisario before the international community after the recent statement of Daesh Sahel, which clarifies with argument and evidence that the leaders of Daesh in the Sahara are leaders from within the Polisario camps located over Algerian territory,\u201d revealed Slimi.<\/p>\n
Both Algeria and the Polisario Front are possessed by the fear of the reaction of the international community regarding the relationship between separatism and terrorism.<\/p>\n
On the remainder of the content of the letter, Manar Slimi emphasized that it is very similar to \u201cif not a detailed copy\u201d of the Algerian president, Tebboun\u2019s statement on Algeria\u2019s relation to the Polisario.<\/p>\n
